We are getting closer to opening the Utica Institute Museum on campus! The college has completed the emergency repairs to the former President’s Home including a new roof, replacing an exterior wall with significant rotting, and new flooring throughout the home. Maintenance crews are finishing up the painting and will work on repairing the plumbing.
While we’re waiting on construction to wrap up, we have been hard at work preparing the initial exhibits for the museum. The plan is to open with a re-creation of William Holtzclaw’s office, along with an exhibit on the World-Famous Utica Jubilee Singers. Most likely, we’ll open with a “soft launch” in the Spring to allow for social distancing.
